An alarm you won’t miss
Most online timers count down by adding up “one second passed” ticks. Browsers slow those ticks right down in hidden tabs to save battery, so the timer quietly falls behind and the alarm comes late. CountdownPro stores the exact moment each timer should end and works out what’s left from the real clock every time it draws. The alarm itself is booked on the browser’s audio clock the second you press Start.
Three layers make sure it reaches you:
- Sound: a digital beep, a bell or a soft chime, ringing for 10 seconds to 2 minutes.
- Notification: an optional system notification that stays until you dismiss it, so you see it from another app or window.
- Screen: the card flashes red and the tab title shows the time left, and the screen can be kept awake while a timer runs.
The honest limit: a web page can only ring while it is open. Close the tab and the alarm goes with it. Here’s exactly how browser throttling works and what we do about it.

Every timer has a Share button that copies a link such as countdownpro.app/?t=12m&l=Pizza. Whoever opens it gets the same length and label, ready to start. You can build links by hand, too: ?t=25m, ?t=1h30m, ?t=90s.
Need everyone to finish at the same instant rather than start their own? The shareable countdown link counts down to a fixed moment, so it reads the same on every screen.

Is this countdown timer free?
Yes. Every timer on CountdownPro is free, with no account, no sign-up and no limit on how many timers you run at once.
Will the alarm go off if I switch tabs?
Yes, as long as this tab stays open. Each alarm is scheduled on the browser’s audio clock the moment you press Start, so it does not rely on the page redrawing. The on-screen countdown may update less often in a background tab, but the end time is fixed, so it never drifts. Closing the tab or the browser stops the alarm.
How do I get a notification when a timer ends?
Open “Alarm & notification settings” and turn on notifications, then allow them when your browser asks. On iPhone and iPad, web notifications only work after you add the site to your Home Screen (iOS 16.4 or later).
Can I run several timers at the same time?
Yes. Every timer you start is added to the board with its own label, alarm and end time. There is no cap; keep adding as many as you need.
Do my timers survive a page reload?
Yes. Timers are saved in your browser’s local storage as an end time, so a reload, a crash or reopening the tab brings them back exactly where they should be. If a timer ended while the page was closed, it shows as finished.
How do I share a timer?
Tap Share on any timer to copy a link like countdownpro.app/?t=10m&l=Pasta that opens the same timer for someone else. To make everyone count down to the same moment (a class, a stream, a launch), use the shareable countdown link tool instead.
Does it work offline?
Once a timer page has loaded, the timer, alarm and notifications run entirely in your browser, so losing your connection does not stop a running timer. Loading a new page needs a connection.
